The National Film School of Denmark was founded in 1966 and it's located on Holmen in Copenhagen. Poul Nesgaard is the principal of the school since 1992. The school accepts 6 students of directing every second year. The directing course is 4 years. Previous students from the school are Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg, Bille August, Lone Scherfig, Susanne Bier, Per Fly etc. While Laurits was studying at the school from 1999 to 2003, some of his most influential directors where guest teachers there, like Roman Polanski, David Lynch, Nicolas Roeg, etc.
